R&D Test Center Manager and Statistic Science Specialist Location: Navi Mumbai, India Background Our client is a global company with five R&D Centers located in EMEA and APAC.
Running and developing these centers is of highest importance to ensure company’s
global competitive edge being the leader in applied technology for integrated
coloring solutions. The integrated coloring solution requires deep knowledge in both colorant and
equipment technology. A key component to make this integration is the testing
of colorants behavior in different equipment solutions. This testing knowledge
is a core competence for the company. Currently they have a colorant R&D competence center located in Navi Mumbai and
an equipment R&D competence center located in Mumbai.
For their R&D Test Center in Navi Mumbai the company is currently looking for a: R&D Test Manager with Statistic Science specialization. The Responsibilities The R&D Test Center Manager will be responsible for building up and manage the
R&D Test center in Navi Mumbai. The Test center will be focused providing the
test data to both the development of new equipment and of new colorants. To do this s/he will have to: • Establish the R&D Test center in India. It is a must that the test center is
built up on processes supported by statistical science. The statistical science
methods such as DoE should be used for establishing optimal equipment and colorant
capability testing. • Continuously improve the required competence to be attractive as an R&D Test center,
meaning that the Project managers will use the resources here. • Follow up on resources performance, including target setting, personal development
plans, salary etc. • Support the product development and industrialization projects by close co-operation
with the R&D Project managers. • Organize and follow-up on the deployment of the R&D Test center recourses to
R&D Projects. • Primarily give statistical science support to other parts of company’s global
organization, but also when needed drive the establishment of processes based on
statistical science in other parts of company’s global organization.
S/He will have an independent role, reporting to the Colorant R&D Competence Center General
Manager located company’s laboratory in Navi Mumbai. S/He will be measured on the Test centers: • Ability to utilize statistical science methodologies in designing tests
• Ability to work for projects.
• Ability to generate new efficient technical solutions.
• Ability to support the delivering of results within the set cost targets.
• Ability to support the development of products within set timelines.
• Ability to support the development of products that meet customer needs
in terms of functionality, usability, reliability, cost etc.
• Ability to develop and deliver relevant statistical based processes to support
company’s R&D activities.
The Education and Experience S/He must have a post graduate level and it should include a major in statistical
science or similar. S/He must have +5 years of experience of applied statistical science in equipment
/chemical/pharmaceutical industry. S/He must be well acquaintance with practical applications of general statistical methods
especially the Taguchi methods including the design of experiments method. S/He should be flexible for traveling to support in establishing statistical based processes
in company’s other R&D Competence Centers located in Europe. S/He should have worked with R&D in a global context, having experience with different cultures. S/He should have experience of software supporting statistical science e.g. Minitab. The Skills S/He must be good with people i.e. diplomatic and still able to push for results. S/He must be a result focused hands on “doer”. S/He must be good in planning and follow-up. S/He must be able to work independently in a global environment. S/He must have good R&D management skills and need to understand where the benefits will come
and in the end be able to take them out, so called business sense. S/He must proactive in seeing potential risks and issues in a R&D Test center.
