Role Title: Utility Plant
Designation: - Dy. Manager Function/ Department: Production Location: Taloja Purpose of this Role: This role is primarily responsible for providing uninterrupted supply of quality utilities and power supply to the entire complex by operating the plants at maximum productivity levels ensuring that safety , health and environmental norms are adhered to. The role is also responsible for adhering to the statutory regulations which are in force .

(a)Role Responsibilities Responsibilities
Ensuring that the plant is operating at maximum productivity and efficiency levels , production activity is not hampered due to unavailability of resources i.e both materials and machines and necessary corrective actions have been taken to minimise deviations by obtaining information from the shift in charges and reporting the required information to the group head and in his absence to the production head and communicating relevant information down the line
Ensuring adequate manpower availability and control of overtime expenses by proper sanctioning of leave to Shift in charges and operating staff and rescheduling of manpower so as not to hamper the production activities.
Ensuring that all the operating parameters of the utility and power plants are maintained as per SOP and the required quality standards are within the specified norms so as not to effect the performance of the entire complex , if need be quick decisions to be taken and SIC\'s to be instructed accordingly so as to correct deviations in minimum time.
Ensuring avoidance of accidents and downtime by keeping a tab on the critical jobs being carried out in the plant, critical evaluation of safety permits and ensuring that all safeguards are in place . Carrying out hazard analysis of class I safety permits
Ensuring adequate utility availability by coordinating with the group heads and other PIC\'s regarding the utility requirement of the plants during normal operation and in emergency situations so as to run the utility plants optimally and provide a priority schedule to the SIC\'s in case of emergencies and startup/shutdown operations..
Ensuring that all the resources required for the smooth and efficient operations are made available to the production line timely.
Improving plant operations by , brainstorming of SIC\'s and workmen to evolve new ideas for plant improvements/continuing problems , discussing unidentified problems, overseeing plant housekeeping and safety aspects and ensuring that the discharge of plant effluents is as per statutory norms.
Following HR systems and policies by proper appraising the SIC\'s and workmen , maintaining discipline, guiding them about their strengths and weaknesses, suggesting areas for improvement, and providing all necessary aides to improve overall excellence in operations.
Ensure no damage is done to life and pro perty within and outside the factory premise by acting as the incident controller for emergencies and by taking prompt decisions.
Ensuring all documents and reports pertaining to SAP are updated and all transactions are completed as per requirement .
Preparing reports and budgets as a source of information to higher management levels and for future reference.
Improving operating systems by correcting the deficiencies mentioned in the internal audit report.
Coordinating with the SSM in case of emergencies and resource shortages.
The role handles 5 boilers , 2 trains of power generators producing of total capacity 9MW , Instrument air systems, DM water and cooling water systems all of which provide utilities which are the heart of any chemical operation, the interruptions in which will directly affect the productivity of the entire complex. The role thus plays a very important role in ensuring that the productivity levels of the entire complex are maximised. Hence the role requires the following to be performed effectively
Ensuring that all the safety systems are being followed and all recommendations made by the safety and technical dept\'s are promptly implemented.
Coordinating with statutory authorities and ensuring compliance of all mandatory requirements, lack of which would attract severe legal implications.
Coordinating with maintenance depts to discuss pending jobs , shutdowmn planning, reccurrent problems and other critical jobs and ensuring planned completion of the jobs.
